Grant from The Ralph M. Parsons Foundation supports on-going training, development and certification of family coaches whose primary focus is to engage, enrich and build strong parent-child relationships and family bonding experiences in cases where children have been removed from the home and are working towards reunification.
With the foundation's support, BFFI is able to increase the number of family coaches trained and this translates into increasing the number of children and families served.
The BFFI family coaches work with families to improve parents’ knowledge and skills, help to develop support systems, and significantly improve access to health, mental health, education, and natural communities of support – all in an effort to reduce the risk of maltreatment and prevent the continuous trauma of separation and reliance on the foster care system.
Helping to create a strong bond between parent-child to promote their wellbeing is central to our work together.
