My most rewarding experiences and motivations in my life is bringing people of different ages, backgrounds, talents and skills together for the benefit of improving the lives of children and families.
My purpose is to work together to help create an environment that is safe, stable, nurturing and that promotes healing on many levels. An environment that is made up of continuously building relationships rooted in love and not fear. An environment of wellbeing.
While there is no real consensus around a single definition of wellbeing, there is general agreement that at minimum, well-being includes the presence of positive emotions and moods (e.g., contentment, happiness), the absence of negative emotions (e.g., depression, anxiety), satisfaction with life, fulfillment and positive functioning. In simple terms, well-being can be described as judging life positively and feeling good. For public health purposes, physical wellbeing (e.g., feeling very healthy and full of energy) is also viewed as critical to overall wellbeing.
The pathway to a life of wellbeing also includes an environment of equality and justice for everyone. A way of thinking that does not perpetuate fear. Fear defeats more people than any other one thing in the world. It is a greater threat than any nuclear-powered war. An environment of inequality and injustice emanates from fear and then that fear turns to hate. Hate does not work for anyone, white, black, brown, Democrat or Republican!
Are we going to meet this historic moment for racial justice to create an environment of wellbeing for our children and families?
Albert Einstein once said, “We cannot solve problems with the same level of thinking that created them.” So, we need a different mindset. Poor thinking is disproportionately impacting the wellbeing of our children and families of color. Why is it so hard to have quality thinking that comes from love and not fear?
You don’t shoot someone in the back when they are moving away from you. Is this so hard to understand? Is the system so bruised or broken that this kind of thinking is difficult? A new type of thinking is essential if mankind is to survive and move or evolve toward higher levels. A new ethical perspective arising in and from the human heart leading to truth, openness, connectiveness, quality thinking and relationship building. Quality thinking is what leads to truth, a quality of life and to an environment of wellbeing and justice for all.
